Mahagalkadawala tank(image 8) King Mahasen worked to enlarge the Alahere canal which was originally started by King Wasabha, and directed it towards filling the Minneriya tank. King Mahasen was also called ‘God of Minneri’. He became very popular because of building Minneriya tank. The period of King Mahasen Is considered important as far as irrigation systems were concerned, because he worked very hard to give irrigation facilies to most of the dry zone.
